Bob Ross seconded the motion. Without objection minutes were approved. ARs: - Mike LaBonte to complete BIRD appendix for parser contract. - No progress New IBISCHK bugs: - Mike showed an example AMI with Corner as a parameter name. - Mike: Should we disallow Corner and other reserved words as the name of parameters? - Bob: It depends on what Corner means in AMI. - Lance: Corner is a Format, so it can't be used us a name. - Mike: Theoretically we could allow this, but in most languages that would be considered a bad practice. - Bob: We allow anything for Model_Specific parameter names. - Mike: We call it a "reserved word" without saying what that means. - Some parsers might reject it. - Bob: We could say that names can not be reserved words. - Mike showed the bug list. - Mike: Bug 161 reported this problem. - It tested all possible AMI reserved words as Model_Specific parameter names. - It is closed now. - Mike showed IBISCHK BUG 161. - Bob: In BUG 161 we determined that reserved words are legal as Model_Specific parameter names. - Lance: Table and Format are commented out in the testcase. - Mike: The bug says there is a problem when they are uncommented. - Bob: That bug was filed Apr 2015. There might be minutes from that time discussing this. - Lance: It should be clarified in the specification that this is allowed. - Mike: We should find out if any existing parsers might have trouble with reserved words as parameter names. - Bob: We could ask privately. - Mike explained the nature of BUG 161, which was written to show a different problem. - We should discuss the rationale for accepting reserved words before deciding to write BIRD.
